Real Estate on the Central Coast of California
Half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, in northern San Luis Obispo County, is some of the most coveted real estate in the United States. It’s not just the countryside and the small town feel but also the climate that make the area so desireable. El Paso de Robles, meaning "The Pass of the Oaks", more commonly known as Paso Robles, is a small city with just under 30,000 residents. It is located about 20 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean in the Salinas Valley. From here it’s just three and one half hours to either Los Angeles to the south or San Francisco to the north.
With coastal influence on the weather, the area has "micro-climates" that can satisfy just about any taste. Within a 10 mile radius of Paso Robles there are a number of these influences that have contributed to a new industry that the area is becoming quite well known for. Wine grapes like the climate and the soils and many folks are finding it very enjoyable to visit wineries and tasing rooms, local restaurants and the unique hotels. There are numerous other activities to enjoy as well. To name a few, water sports are close by, horse ranches, hunting retreats and many places to ride bicycle on and off road. As a fourth generation native and retired rancher, I appreciate the interest in this area and am ready to share my knowledge and experience of the land I love.
